A VERY big livestock market is set up in Karachi every year for about a month during Eid-ul-Azha where over one million animals - about 0.4 million large ruminants and more than 0.6 million small ruminants - are brought from various parts of the country.
Over 60 per cent of these animals belong to Punjab, 40 per cent to rural Sindh and 10 per cent to Balochistan.
These sacrificial animals which are specially fed and reared are mostly beautiful and fat and fetch high prices.
The Karachi cattle market set up on the occasion of Eid is one of the largest livestock market in Asia. As far as large ruminants are concerned about 0.5 per cent of them are crossbreed of Frisian and Cherolias which fetch higher prices than local animals. Some animals are sold for more than a few hundred thousand rupees each.

Mobilink, an Orascom Telecom Company, has selected Motorola to deploy a WiMAX 802.16e-2005 access network in Pakistan. According to the agreement, Motorola will design, plan, deploy, and optimize a WiMAX network for Mobilink. Motorola will also enable quicker adoption of the operator’s WiMAX offering by providing integration and support services as well as indoor and outdoor CPE (customer premises equipment).

Construction of the international airport at Sialkot was first approved in the year 2001 and an amount of Rs230 million was allocated for the project. The airport is equipped with all international standards to facilitate national and international flights. Situated in the heart of the country’s industrial hub, the site of the airport spans across 1050-acres and is 14km west of Sialkot with existing road links to Wazirabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot city, Sialkot Export Processing Zone and Sialkot Dry Port, where a large number of potential passengers exist, who are frequent flyers with in and outside the country. An important feature of this airport is the runway which is 3,600 meters long, 45-meters wide with 7.5-meters wide shoulders on each side, making it one of the largest runways in the country.

City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that city government will construct a most modern cattle colony with international consultancy for which 5,000 acres of land has already been allocated and the cattle colony from Landhi will be shifted there after construction of roads and laying of water, sewerage lines and other facilities. He said this during a meeting with a delegation of Dairy Farmers Association comprising its President DFA Haji Muhammad Akhtar, Vice-President Dr. Rafiq Babar. Other CDGK officials were also present on the occasion.

BEIJING, Dec 3 (APP): Fine quality and competitive price of Pakistani Kinoo has bright prospect to tap Chinese fresh fruit market, thus by exporting citrus fruit the country could earn precious foreign exchange.
“The aroma and taste of Pakistani Kinoo has obtained a good reputation and acceptability in the international market”, said a prominent Pakistani trader who is for the first time plan to importKinoo in China from Pakistan.
Mohammad Yaseen who is in import and export business here since over two decades especially in food items while talking to APP said that this year, as per reports he got, there was a forecast ofbumper output of Kinoo in Pakistan.

Pakistan is the sixth largest producer of Kinow (mandarin) and oranges in the world, with 2.1 million tons. Pakistan world mandarin and oranges market share during the year 1997 was 0.9 percent and 3.6 percent in terms of value and volume respectively. Pakistan is also the largest producer of 'Citrus Reticula' variety (Kinow), this unique variety of citrus is indigenous to this part of the world. According to an estimate approx. 95 percent of the total Kinow produced all over the world is grown in Pakistan.

Ltd, the parent company of the new firm is a joint venture between the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of Pakistan and this will be the third company to be rolled out under its portfolio of financial services.The mandate and the vision of the upcoming capital brokerage house is to focus on international markets and participate in attracting foreign capital in Pakistan. The formed company will initially be launched as a private limited company and will soon go for dual listing. The other signatory was Oman based Vision Investment Services Company.

ISLAMABAD (November 23 2007): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is likely to kick off the multi-billion project for the conduction of water supply from Ghazi Barotha early next year.
Director General Services of the CDA Mohammed Zaman told APP on Thursday that Indus River System Authority (Irsa) has approved the multi-billion project in principle, which would later be approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec).
